Heritage Projects

Thorington Hall, Stoke by Nayalnd taken by Dayle BaylissThe range of projects that we have been involved in is varied and challenging, one area of enjoyment and interest is our work on Heritage Buildings and research in this area.  This interest in the philosophy of repair, alteration, conservation and conversion led to both Dayle and Paulette undertaking an MSc in Conservation of Buildings.  This hands on approach to research saw studies undertaken in Redundant Agricultural Buildings, the Role of  Amenity Societies in Heritage Legislation as well as study trips to Europe.  The areas of European study include Paris, Florence, Rome and Berlin.

This study has been combined with construction schemes Project Managed by the team. Whilst overseeing the refurbishment of a Grade II* building where the upgrade of services and introduction of sustainable technology was key to the scheme, we were able to research the insulation types to be installed in the roof and research the effects on ventilation, condensation and dew points for different insulation materials.  The result was the insertion of Thermafleece Sheepswool quilt insulation to offer a breathable solution, ensuring the long term integrity of this historic structure.  This approach allows our design solutions to be well researched and appropriate to the materials and structure.  It is this belief that sets us apart from other Heritage Consultants.
