• RICS Governing Council – Time to Vote

If you are an FRICS, MRICS or AssocRICS member you should have received a link asking you to vote in the elections for the new 15 market seats for Governing Council. This is the first time the membership has been asked to vote on the reformed make up of Governing Council.

You may be thinking why is it important to vote? Well, Governing Council sets the overarching strategy for RICS and helps us all in our mission to deliver confidence in the built and natural environment. It is the highest representative body for members of the profession, and with these new market seats, will ensure the broadest possible input from sectors and locations in which we operate.

This is the first election for the 15 market seats that were created as a part of our governance reforms that the profession voted for at the end of last year.

Having a modern, nimble, and diverse governance structure is a critical part of our business transformation work to ensure RICS keeps up with some of the monumental change going on in our markets around the world.

So why this post? You may have seen that Dayle Bayliss is standing to re-elected and continue on Governing Council and she would be honoured to receive your vote. But why vote for Dayle Bayliss. Hopefully we can convince you….

    • Dayle runs and owns an SME, she understands the pressure on our profession, the dedication and commitment it takes to run a business, but the satisfaction of working with amazing clients and having the ability to really understand their needs and deliver great projects.
    • The pressure the sector faces on issues like PI and being left until the last minute to get a renewal and being told by a broker that are sector just isn’t attractive at the moment.
    • The need for skills investment and training. She has worked with the Department for Education on educational reforms for technical qualifications that meet todays needs but also the ambitious future of our sector and prop tech.
    • Has been a member of local Matrics groups, UK and Ireland Matrics Board, member of East of England Board, as well as current member of Governing Council.
    • As current member of Governing Council has a proven track record for standing up for the micro businesses and SME’s. Not afraid to challenge or push for progress, listens to the profession and ensures that voices are heard.

Dayle is already a member of the RICS and Governing Council and represent our profession. So please check you inboxes for the link to vote and if you haven’t voted, please considered a vote for Dayle Bayliss so she can continue to speak up for you.
